지난 2018년 평창군은 전 세계인의 공감과 응원을 이끌어내며 평창동계올림픽을 성황리에 개최했습니다. 올림픽 흥행에 성공하며 평창군을 세계에 알릴 수 있었기에 오늘날 이런 귀한 자리가 마련될 수 있었습니다.
In 2018, Pyeongchang successfully hosted the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, evoking a sense of empathy from people around the world. Thanks to this remarkable achievement, Pyeongchang has gained international recognition. As a result, we are delighted to host this meaningful conference.
올림픽 개최 이후 평창군은 올림픽이 남긴 유산을 계승하고 발전시키기 위해 다양한 방면으로 유산사업을 진행하고 있습니다. 이번 컨퍼런스 역시 그 사업의 일환으로써 평창 올림픽의 저력을 세계로 확산시키고 올림픽 지식을 나누며 교류하고자 개최하게 되었습니다.
Since the Games, Pyeongchang has been actively promoting a variety of legacy projects from different angles to sustain and enhance the legacy of the Olympic Games. As a part of these endeavors, we are hosting this conference to share the enduring impact of PyeongChang 2018 with the world and to facilitate the exchange of Olympic knowledge.
여러분이 방문하게 될 평창은 한겨울을 목전에 두고 있습니다. 올림픽이 개최되던 2018년의 그날 역시 추운 겨울이었지만 선수들의 열정과 선수들을 응원하는 전 세계인의 뜨거운 마음이 모여 따뜻했던 것 같습니다. 여러분을 맞이할 평창의 추위가 그날의 열기를 상기시키기를 바랍니다.
Pyeongchang, the city you will be visiting for the conference, is soon entering winter. The days of the Olympic Games in 2018 were quite chilly as well. However, it was the enthusiasm and zeal of people from around the world, cheering for their teams, that made it feel warm and welcoming.
올림픽의 뜨거운 열기가 아직 남아 있는 이곳 평창에서 다져진 올림픽 네트워크가 다시 세계 곳곳으로 뻗어나가게 되는 귀중한 시간이 되기를 기원합니다.
I hope that during your time in Pyeongchang, where the passion of the Olympic Games still lingers, a new Olympic network will be established and extended throughout the world once more.

I extend my warmest welcome to all participants of the Pyeongchang International Conference for Olympic Studies and Research Centres 2023.
우리 재단과 평창군이 주최하고 IOC 올림픽 연구센터와 함께 하는 이번 컨퍼런스는 국제 올림픽 연구센터가 전 세계에 설치되기 시작한 이후 최대 규모로 한 자리에 모이는 올림픽 지식교류의 장입니다.
The conference is organized by our foundation and Pyeongchang County and acknowledged by the IOC Olympic Studies Centre. It will serve as a platform for the exchange of Olympic knowledge, bringing together the global Olympic studies centres from around the world on the largest scale since the establishment of such centers worldwide.
지난 2018 평창동계올림픽 폐회식에서 토마스 바흐 위원장은 “새로운 지평을 열었다”라고 평가한 바 있습니다. 이 후 5년간 2018 평창기념재단은 2018 평창대회 유산의 지속 가능한 발전과 동계스포츠의 저변 확대, 올림픽 가치의 확산 등을 위한 유산사업을 주도하고 있습니다. 그 일환으로 전 세계 올림픽 지식의 발전을 도모하고자 이번 컨퍼런스를 개최하는 바입니다.
At the Closing Ceremony of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games, IOC President Thomas Bach evaluated the Games as having opened up the new horizons. Since then, for the past five years, the PyeongChang 2018 Legacy Foundation has been spearheading legacy projects aimed at the sustainable development of the legacies from PyeongChang 2018, the expansion of winter sports, and the dissemination of the Olympic values. The hosting of this conference is a part of these efforts to enhance the development of Olympic knowledge worldwide.
올림픽 성공개최 도시 평창에 모여 올림픽 관련 최신 정보와 지식의 소통을 통한 올림픽 지식 네트워크를 형성하는 시간이 되기를 기원합니다.
